Thanks for this video! I've been playing classic DOOM for almost a year now, and I wanted to get into some of id Software's other games, like Quake and Wolfenstein 3D! The last one in particular seemed a little more of a snag to run, seeing as it's the only one of the three who doesn't have a modern re-release! But this video helped a ton! Thanks a lot! c:

Too many options 😂 recently I've played Platinum, which is great, Beautiful doom for an enhanced vanilla experience and Black edition for the challenge. I tried God Complex but the gameplay didn't feel very doom.

There are also many projects to bring Wolf 3D to a more modern engine. (well... more modern DOOM engine...) 1. Wolfenstein 3D TC for GZDOOM 2. Laz Rojas's Wolfendoom games and my favourite (which i recently did a brand new All-Secrets playthrough :D ): 3. Wolfenstein 3DGE. Notable for having the mac/3DO sprites (which are higher resoltuion than the original game) and a new, remastered soundtrack, also bullet effects. It has one major bug, but it's my preferred way to play Wolf 3D in 2024.

ReflectionHLE is a source port that aims to keep the vanilla behavior of the game but with modern quality of life changes. I haven't gotten the modern controls to work for me, but perhaps that's a skill issue. Also, not mentioning Wolf4SDL isn't that big of a deal. ECWolf started off as a fork of Wolf4SDL, but eventually overtook it in popularity because it had way more features. The only advantage Wolf4SDL has is the opening demos work.

Considering that Dans BD is based on BD Lite I can see why it doesn't have glory kills as the creator of Lite removed them specially for the reason of being one of the most spaghetti code parts of BD, very prone to bugs and breaking when making modifications. Also cute you complaining about a randomizer with bullshit hitscanners, first time? Edit: Rewatching with more attention, I realized that Voxel BD seems to be using Led's Generic Weapons or Weapons of Saturn as its arsenal, so if anyone wants to play without the Voxel shenanigans just download one of these two.

I don't think anyone bothers with a remaster becuase why would you when brutal wolfenstein exists All the games you listed are essentially wolfenstein but with more stuff. Not saying that as a bad thing- it's just, wolfenstein was more a proof of concept. The newer REMAKES like The New Order will probably get a remaster before the original because again - why would anyone bother with the original when modders have made a package that modernizes the game and wolfenstein struggles to find a mainstream audience to begin with? It sucks, I grew up playing Wolf3D - but if you give me the option to pick between Wolf3D and brutal Wolfenstein- there's no contest
